How to remove AI metadata from a photo

Social networks read hidden file fields and may label a picture Made with AI. Cleaning removes that data and keeps the picture itself.

Step by step

  1. Upload a photo

Open Strip Metadata and choose a JPG, PNG, GIF, WebP, or HEIC file up to 10 MB.

  2. Click Clean

The file is saved again at the same resolution and format. EXIF, XMP, and marks such as Made with AI are left out of the new file.

  3. Download the result

The picture stays the same. PNG stays lossless, and GIF or WebP animation is kept. A JPG file size can change slightly.

What leaves the file

A photo often carries more than the image: camera, location, software, and a sign that it was made with AI. Platforms read those fields and show a Made with AI label.

The tool saves the pixels again and does not copy the service blocks. The frame, size, and format stay the same.

What cleanup does not do

A visible watermark drawn on the picture is not erased. If a platform detects AI from the image itself rather than from file fields, the label can remain.

Things to watch

  • Cleanup removes service data. It does not redraw the photo.
  • PNG stays lossless. A JPG file size can change a little.
  • GIF and WebP animation is kept.
  • No sign-up is required.
